FOLLOWING IN THE PATH OF DYLAN
by Bess Miles-Duncan 2006
Footsteps on pebbles and sand
Touching our shadows silently observed
We move ever onward
Some show courage in the night
Lighting the way for others.
Then as centuries pass
We want to absorb their uniqueness
While each day reveals
A little more of ourselves.
A mark, an imprint of our sole,
Disturbs the soil put down by volcanoes
While a leaf falls beside it
A spider leaves its web
To touch the moment
The wind in the trees
Shakes a raindrop
And we kiss under the mistletoe
To seal our promise
Frost covers the blackberries
As the night covers the dawn.
