TEARS FOR A
PLANET
Bess Miles-Duncan, 11 July 2005
She is weeping
Left alone
With rubbish
Heaped
Desolate
Her heart broken
Because they could not see
The Beauty of the ivy
As it coils around
To get a better hold.
They could not hear
The bird song
Because their machinery
Was louder
And the nest among it
Lost its young
They could not feel
The morning sun
As the polluted air
Held sway.
Taste was a thing
Of the past
With chemicals
Killing buds
And feelings what are they?
Pushed down by drugs and drink
So loss is not noticed
And tears seep inwards
Decaying the soil/soul.
The earth is strong
But wonders
Why we missed so much
Of the beauty
She had to bestow.
