Having trained as a graphic designer
in her native Netherlands and in Germany, Niki now lives in West
Yorkshire, and returned to working with clay at the end of the
1990's. She writes: I am intrigued by opposites and
contrast: in- and out-side, lightness and heaviness, empty and
full, sharp and soft, round and square, rough and smooth, bold
and shy. I like to stretch the medium of clay to its limits. My
work is more like a collaboration of materials than a conscious
attempt to produce a controlled or manipulated result. We
show here just a few examples of her exquisite hand-made pots.
