Saltaire Arts was started in February 2006 by Caroline McVey and David Holden with more than a little help from our friends. We have a "philosophy" even though it is hardly articulate. Saltaire Arts was inspired by our faith in the positive value of love, friendship and creativity for the further evolution of human consciousness on planet Earth.

Saltaire is a good place to start for at least two reasons: firstly it is, against the general trend of current social trends, a genuine community; and secondly because there has recently been a remarkable influx of talented people into this area. However, though our initial focus is on Saltaire, our attention is by no means restricted to West Yorkshire, or even the UK.

Since our budget is no more than a threadbare shoestring it is natural for us to have kept away from all attempts at the slick professionalism characterising the world-view of the large corporations that increasingly rule peoples' lives.

A fragment of Caroline's 1st digital camera movie clip, shot surreptitiously at Tanya and Larry's house in Wickham, Hants. The clip is slow and jerky because our computer hasn't enough memory to do much with moving images. But "great oaks from little acorns grow" --- eventually we hope to have many moving image clips on this site.
